Wear your kimono to the PMA!
Woven and Wrapped

Food, wine and your first chance to see our fantastic new exhibition of colorful, traditional?kimonos.

Join us at the Pensacola Museum of Art as we open the exhibition Woven and Wrapped: Kimonos, Clothing and Culture of Early 20th Century Japan, Friday, November 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m..
?
Attendees are invited to wear their own kimonos to the event, which is the first opportunity to see this collection of antique kimonos and clothing at the PMA. Refreshments will be provided.
?
It is also a last chance to see Joan Miro: Order and Chaos in the second-floor galleries. The last day of the Miro exhibition is Saturday, November 12.
?
Woven and Wrapped will be on display at the PMA through February 11, 2012.
?
In conjunction with Woven and Wrapped, "Gallery Talks," will be presented in cooperation with the Pensacola Opera and its production of Madama Butterfly on January 15 at 3 p.m.. The featured speaker is Dr. Suzette Doyon, Associate Professor of art history at the University of West Florida. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The First Lady is asking military children from around the globe for some personal contributions to the finishing touches on the White House decorations this holiday season.
The request is for military children to submit 5x8" handmade holiday cards with words of appreciation for their military parents, as well as pictures and drawings. The White House will display as many of the cards as possible.
Participants are asked to send holiday cards to the following address along with information from where they are sending it by November 16, 2011: Reservation 1, Attn: Social Office, PO Box 8070, Washington DC, 20032
