Now that school is over and summer is upon us,  Wii have finally decided to add Wii Games to our Summer Activities!

The kids are enjoying this new addition to our family game nights.
I am still trying to figure out how to maneuver the remote of course.

For now, I am blogging about our adventures on the sidelines.
Hey, this is work too you know! HaH!

Question(s): Do you have a Wii? What are your favorite games to play?

Lost Keys. (Guest Blogger, Laura V)

I am offering up a reward for the person who can find my KEYS. Yes I am one of those folks who keeps all the keys on one ring, easier having everything in one spot but a nightmare if you lose the ring.  A few weeks back, I posted a message about UCLA in my house (U Can’t Locate Anything)….well, this is what I was afraid of.
The Facts:
-I know my keys have to be somewhere in or around the house because my car is parked in the garage.
-I know I had them last yesterday when I picked up the girl from school (At this point she is not my bella ballerina but Suspect UNO)
-I didn’t go anywhere else last night after I got ‘the girl’ from school.
-My little monkey can’t reach the key rack and I am pretty sure I put it up there because I remember missing the key rack twice and bending over to pick them up and joked about doing crunches J

The Suspects:

-Suspect Uno is the girl……she has done this before and has an extensive history of moving my stuff around-just because. Matter of fact she had my keys last week to get in the car before her dad and the hubby left them in front of the garage door with a text message letting me know they were out there (Why couldn’t you just put them back on the rack?)

-Suspect #2 is the hubby, he meets the height requirement

-Suspect #3 the 14 month old lil monkey that I just had to get off the bar stool….. something tells me if he can climb in and out of the walker and on the breakfast bar, he MAY have scooted a barstool over to get the keys but that would require him to put it back and get down and he can’t do that yet! (This one is a streeeeeetch)

I discovered the keys were missing at 8 this morning right before heading to a playdate……. That was a no go. Then I was occupied with baby and school work, so didn’t realize it was 10 minutes until school let out………talk about a sprint. We live around the corner about a 20 minute walk to the school, so no big, except the stroller was locked in the truck and I had to employ the back up stroller….. I totally forgot how to work that thing!
I was down to the 5 minute mark, I threw my monkey in the stroller and hit the pavement. I swear if you would have looked out your window and saw me running through the neighborhood you would have died laughing. Too bad I can’t put a before and after pic up of my hair or can I? Anyway, this is why I need my key! Lol DH is home with the spare but I don’t want to only be down to a single key. Oh man, I am just curious to see where I find them.  I am confident I will close this case but know that I find stuff in the weirdest places.

The Rewards:

-A few cookies for Suspect Uno and an hour of TV <-she added in the TV ????? Hmmm, plea pargin?

-A cookie if lil monky strolls around the corner with them

A little hubba hubba with a cherry on top if DH finds them ;)

Gotta go, DH wants to go jogging (eye role)….. I already did my jog today!

Laura lives in Pensacola with her husband and 2 kids.

UCLA= U Can’t Locate Anything (Guest Blogger, Laura V)

UCLA= U Can’t Locate Anything
Guest Blogger: Laura V.
I had a teacher in high school that joked that when she went to UCLA, she realized it stood for ‘U Can’t Locate Anything’. This has been my mantra lately. It drives me absolutely crazy when my family can’t put anything back where they found it.  Call me nuts but it kinda of goes in my common sense bin. I’m not even talking about things like Christmas ornaments, the Easter decorations or those shorts I bought 10 years ago, I get fired up over my common every day things not being where they are supposed to be.
This takes out time in my day that I just don’t have. Here are some things I have been on the hunt for lately: My shampoo and conditioner, the lotion, my chopping knife, the baby’s hairbrush, my kitchen scissors, my stamps, many of my socks, my $50 cash back-didn’t realize I didn’t have that until I got to the store check out line and the tooth paste. I realized the problem is with boundaries…my family all of the sudden has none. This is why I could never have roommates-I don’t like people messing with my stuff. I have tolerance for the little people but not so much for the big people.
So this is where I found some stuff… My shampoo was in my son’s room and the conditioner in my daughter’s room. My daughter (8yrs) said that she likes mine better (Nope didn’t even ask) and used it but got distracted when returning it and left it on her bed, which ended up on the floor and then the 14 month old grabbed the shampoo and must have brought it in his room and then dad said he just put it in the baby’s dresser (Um, didn’t he realize that wasn’t baby shampoo? hmmmm) The lotion was in the living room, my husband said he brought it in there to watch TV in the morning…Well Friggin put it back in the bathroom.
The baby’s hairbrush was in the garage; my daughter and her friend took it to brush the dolls hair (Big sigh and grunt-I already bought him another but why are you touching his stuff?). My kitchen scissors were in my husbands car, he took them when he went fishing….(I thought they made special scissors for that-I don’t want them back now).
My husband used the stamps and put them back in the hall chest thingy and forgot, so when I was asking for four days and looking all through my stuff and eventually bought another book…then he remembers that he used them and didn’t put them back where he found them.
I found my socks, when I saw my daughter take her shoes off. I asked where she got those and she said in her drawer. When dad offered to fold clothes, he put my stuff in with hers…I also found some of my shirts, shorts, and underwear upon the drawer inspection. Well, when I took a nap yesterday, the baby got into my purse, pulled out credit cards, money and pictures. My husband put the wallet back in my purse but not the money, credit cards or pictures and then didn’t tell me either. So when I went to the store, I had to embarrassingly slide out of line and try to figure out why I had a wallet with nothing in it.
I wish I could say these were the only times but these things have been happening ALL the time lately. I can’t help but wonder how this started. Since this started, I have tried just doing everything myself, that way I don’t have to worry about my stuff ending up in my daughter’s drawers but then I am told that it is ok to get help-just go back and fix it later.
I tried talking to them but they say I am overreacting. I tried to micromanage but who really wants someone on their back when they are trying to do something so that doesn’t come off too well. I have tried ignoring it but then it takes extra time and effort and money. I have tried buying everyone their own stuff and while it is costly, it still doesn’t work because when they misplace theirs, they use mine and loose that.
I am turning into a freak. I watch everyone and make sure I know what they are bring outside, remind them to bring it back in the house and then look to see if they did or not, don’t want anyone putting away the groceries or laundry because I don’t know where anything is when I need it…… I feel like I am turning into my step mom, it is only a matter of time until we start wiping out the toilet and sink after each use or signing after each bathroom use (She doesn’t do that but joked it would be a great idea to see who was in the bathroom last).
Whew what a vent! It seems so silly to you all, I am sure but it is eating up at me for some reason. I just enjoy knowing where things are in my house. If I am a ‘homemaker, housewife, stay at home mom’, I guess I do feel a little territorial, like my place of business should be in order but feel like I am failing at such a small task, which places strain on other things I try to do? Unable to do the art project because the scissors and glue are gone, can’t wash my hair real quick while the baby is napping because by the time I find the shampoo, he's up.
I took a shower last night and made sure everything was in the bathroom before I started, shampoo (check), conditioner (check), wash cloth (check), soap (check), towel and robe (check-check), lotion (check), deodorant (check). I heard someone come into the bathroom while I was in the shower and being paranoid, I asked what he or she needed. It was my daughter and she just needed some cotton swabs.
I said Ok and continued to shower. When I got out, to get my towel, it was gone and my robe. I called to see if someone could bring me a towel and nobody answered, so dripping wet, I went towards the door and could hear a man’s voice that wasn’t my husband’s so called on the cell phone and yelled into the front area-to no avail. So, peeked my head out and asked if my husband could come here and asked if he could get me a towel.
He said yes and 20 minutes later, after I air dried, I finally got a towel (We have a small house but I guess my towel ASAP meant after he was done talking). Sooooooooo, When my daughter came in she also grabbed my robe because she didn’t want to come out of the bathroom with just a towel on because she knew the neighbor dropped by and her dad told her to bring back a towel… (He meant paper towel) but used the huge bathroom towel for a spill in family room.
After I dried up the water puddles in my bathroom and bedroom, my husband asked why I didn’t check to see if I had everything before I got in the shower, because all my yelling for a towel was embarrassing.  (In my head: round house kick, gouging of the eyes, head bunt and why the hell didn’t my daughter use one of her three robes?)
BIG HUGE SIGH-went to bed early

I couldn't resist. I just had to take a photo of these characters.
Check them out! Riding death cycles WITHOUT helmets and proper riding gear.
Oh, wait. I forgot. This is Florida. You don't need safety gear or carseats over the age of 4 in this state. I am NOT making it up!
Hmmm...quite (in a sarcastic rolling my eyes type of way of course) interesting.
Check them out, turning around to pose for the photo. They are so cute. Bless their hearts.

Will you go with me?

How many of you can remember back in the day when your boyfriend or girlfriend asked you to "go with them?"

I was watching one of my favorite fairy tale-love story movies, "Brown Sugar" starring Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan.  (Warning Music on the Link.  Turn down your speakers)

No matter how many times I watch this movie, this part of the movie, ALWAYS touches me.
Which also brings me back to the day my boyfriend finally asked me to go with him.

Remember THIS?

Yes, it was the sweetest moment in time and I have never looked back since.

Question: Can you remember the day when your boyfriend or girlfriend asked you to "go with them?" Please, share.

The tongue helps her walk!

Baby girl has been toddling all over the house lately!
Now that she's 1, we are happy to report, she's an official walker.

She's still trying to catch her balance 100% and it's so much fun watching her discover the excitement of walking!

She always sticks her tongue out halfway when she walks.

I guess that's to help keep her balance. Haha! Too Cute!
Go Gracen!
You're on your way!

Southern Hospitality-Pensacola Little Theater

My daughter and I were treated to a viewing of the Play-Southern Hospitality hosted by the Pensacola Little Theatre.  We laughed the entire time.  The play starts off with a fast talking shop owner that proves to set the stage for the rest of the play.

From the Website:

The Futrelle Sisters – Frankie, Twink, Honey Raye and Rhonda Lynn – are in trouble again. This time, the problem is bigger than ever:  their beloved hometown, Fayro, Texas, is in danger of disappearing and it’s up to the sisters to save it from extinction.

Ever since the Super SmartMart and the rendering plant closed, folks have been leaving Fayro in droves, but Honey Raye, with a major assist from her former nemesis, Geneva Musgrave, has come up with a possible solution.  It seems a salsa manufacturing factory is looking to relocate and a company representative is headed to Fayro on a scouting mission.  Honey Raye, as the president of the Chamber of Commerce, makes promises that are not to be believed in order to woo the rep to choose Fayro.

In fact, Honey Raye has told them that on the very weekend of the rep’s visit, the town just happens to be having their biggest celebration of the year:  “Fayro Days”, which includes a craft show, a pet costume parade, a beauty pageant and a huge Civil War battle reenactment.  So now it’s up to the citizens of Fayro to quickly make her promises a reality.  The biggest hurdle to impressing the salsa representative is staging a Civil War battle reenactment with only fifteen participants.  Added to this is the dilemma of Twink being so desperate to get married that she’s practically dragging the unwilling groom, Deputy John Curtis Buntner, to the altar.

But this pales next to the financial problems the preacher and his wife are having - unless you don’t consider gambling away your mobile home a problem.   Frankie, however, seems to have it worst of all, what with her husband, Dub, going through a major mid-life crisis at the same time her five-year-old twins are literally tearing up the town.

And unfortunately for all of them, the ‘meanest woman in twelve counties’, Dub’s wicked, old Aunt Iney, is on her way for a visit.  Iney’s arrival in Fayro is definitely cause for alarm for the sisters; but it’s nothing compared to their panic when the old girl drops dead in the Dubberly home just before the salsa rep shows up.  But how the Futrelle sisters and the other citizens of Fayro, including sweet, simple, Raynerd Chisum, pull together and save their town is a testament to Southern strength and ingenuity – and a recipe for total hilarity.

A laugh-out-loud farce and a stand-alone play in its own right, SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY is the third play in the trilogy that began with DEARLY BELOVED and continued with CHRISTMAS BELLES.

The Peaches, Highway and a quick stop!

DJ pointed out a sign on the side of the road and asked what it was for. I told him, "Georgia King Peaches" He started cheering and saying he wanted some Georgia Peaches!

Of course I pulled over on the side of the road and bought a bucket.

While purchasing them, I asked how will I know when they're ready for consumption.
She gave me a funny look, smiled and showed me the contrast in a ready to eat peach and peach that should be set in a bowl on kitchen counter for a few days.
As I was driving off, I wondered if the woman thought I was a nut case for NOT knowing the difference in ripe peaches!

Haha.

Oh well. Better to ask is my philosphy.

$10 bucket-Vendor on Hwy 98 in Pensacola!

Check him out! He just slayed 3 peaches like it's 2 in the afternoon.

Can you guess what just might be one of his favorite summer fruits?

Question: What are your kids favorite fruit(s)?

Monday, May 10, 2010

How much would you tip him? ;-)

Hey Ladies!
