Babies, Bubbles & Friends, Oh My!

Gracen always has a great time with the nursery workers at church.

Today was bubble play in the nursery room and all the kids had a blast.

I stood there watching for a minute just to see how much fun everyone was having.

As soon as baby girl caught a glimpse of me, she crawled so fast towards me.

She forgot all about the bubbles and fun time she was having with her little friends.

I am so thankful for the nursery workers that take time out of their busy lives.

The nursery workers are always pouring their hearts into the ministry of taking care of our kids while we have some adult conversation and fellowship time with our fellow moms in our MOPS events and more.

Thank You again to all of the church nursery workers for a job well done.

You are truly appreciated for everything you're doing for our babies.

Tantrums

Here she is in full glory. We put all the stuff up high so she can't pull it down and she got upset! What??? She better stop playing right now! Get up G! Get up, RIGHT NOW! Awww...

Slow Cooker Ideas.

I have become quite interested in cooking and stepping up my game in the kitchen.

My meal planning is coming along and I am feeling more confident serving meals to my family without worrying if they will be "polite" when they're telling me the food tastes good.

Anyone remember the joke the comedian said, "tell your momma the food tastes good". HaHa!

I think it's time to invest in a slow cooker! This isn't an easy task.

There are rows of cookers to choose from at the store.

Question(s): What are the secrets to choosing the right slow cooker? What's your favorite brand? What are some of your favorite slow cooker meals?

Need Directions to Milton from Pensacola

Help!

Are there any NAS Pensacola Area experts here?

Please post the QUICKEST route to downtown Milton.

I am trying to get to the Methodist Church located in downtown Milton on Berryhill Road.

Google Maps looks very difficult. Ugh! Please, help.

Thank You.

What happens when...

Question: Is it normal for my baby to lose "interest" in formula if they are under a year old?

Answer*: Once babies get the taste of table food, they usually lose interest in the "bland" taste of formula.

Please! Don't let this discourage you. Most importantly, don't give up offering your baby formula.

Babies stomachs are still very sensitive when they are under 1 year and aren't able to digest whole milk at that stage in their life.

Continue offering formula until at least 12 months.  The nutrients and vitamins are still vital to her development.  If you find that your baby is continually rejecting the formula, always be sure to supplement their diet with balanced meals this way he/she won't lose the caloric target for the day.

My other suggestion is, begin planning NOW what type of milk you're going to introduce into her diet once she turns a year old.

Good Luck and I hope this bit of advice helps. :)  *Please remember to ALWAYS consult your pediatrician with questions or concerns regarding your baby and their development. The advice offered here are just that of moms trying to offer guidance the best way we know.

Feedback Request: To my readers, please ADD anything else you think would be helpful to a new mom with feeding her baby.

    Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger Giveaway-Ends, Monday May 3

Energizer has a new campaign called the Kids Take Charge video campaign (www.energizer.com/rercharge), where we are asking kids (with their parent’s help) to submit a video of them explaining what happens – what mischief they get into - when their toys run out of power.

They are looking for VERY creative videos and the top ten finalists will be asked to pick a charity.  Then we will post their video at www.energizer.com/recharge, along with their charity name and the more “likes” their video gets, the bigger portion of a $10,000 donation their charity receives.

I went over to the website to check it out. There are some very creative entries and I have to say there were a lot of cute ones. Since I can only pick one, this is my all time favorite video:

Helping Moms at Breakfast Giveaway-Ends, Monday, May 3

Breakfast during the week is pretty simple in our house.  Variations of Oatmeal or cold cereal, fruit, toast, bacon slices, mini bagels/cream cheese, milk and coffee for mom.  We have been known to eat grilled cheese sandwiches with fruit on the side for breakfast too.  Lunch or Dinner for Breakfast is always a good time!

I was contacted by the representatives for the Nutella®hazelnut spread to inform my readers of the importance of breakfast and to encourage us all to serve meals that our family will eat.

Connie Evers, M.S., R.D. Child nutrition expert and mother of three; Author of "How to teach nutrition to kids" gave a few pointers to get us started and to win with picky eaters:

Be a role model-eating a balanced meal with our kids will benefit the entire family
Provide small portions-small breakfast as a treat and send a packed snack to help him make it through the day
Make breakfast a family affair-decide on breakfast menus together.  When kids are involved in the meal preparation, they are more likely to be excited about the meal.
Get organized-keep your kitchen stocked with plenty of "grab" and "go" foods such as yogurt, string cheese, bananas, grapes, 100% juice, whole grain english muffins, pita bread or mini bagels and all that can be enjoyed with a dab of Nutella®hazelnut spread on the side.

With the right breakfast solution, moms can quickly overcome the 'battle at breakfast' and make morning meal a household habit.

We know the daily battle moms face at breakfast.  It’s hard enough to get children to eat well; and even more so when they are rushing off to school – exactly the time they need a balanced breakfast to fuel their bodies and minds for a good start to the day …

    Solution:
Nutella®hazelnut spread can help moms like you and your readers win the battle at breakfast!  Nutella® is a quick and easy tool to encourage kids to eat whole grains, such as whole wheat toast, English muffins, toaster waffles and bagels.

For example, serve your child whole wheat toast with a dab of Nutella® hazelnut spread, a small bowl of sliced strawberries and a glass of 1% milk for just the right mix of morning nutrients.

    Did you know?

Nutella® contains simple quality ingredients, including roasted hazelnuts, skim milk and a hint of cocoa
There are more than 50 hazelnuts in every jar of Nutella®
Nutella®  hazelnut spread does not contain any artificial colors or preservatives
And it does not contain peanuts or peanut ingredients, nor does the product come in contact with peanuts during manufacturing

I have GREAT news.  I am giving away 2 jars of Nutella®hazelnut spread to 2 lucky readers.

How to enter-Mandatory: Leave a comment about what your family eats for breakfast.  It doesn't have to include Nutella®hazelnut spread but, if it does, that's a bonus.  Please, SHARE.

    I'm BACK!

On December 13, the UNTHINKABLE happened.  All of my BLOGS were deleted.  I can't explain exactly what happened because I truly don't understand myself.  All I can say the first few days were distressing for me to the point where I called a few of my friends and they FELT my PAIN through the phone.  YES!  That's how deep it was.  I had so much to say about this ordeal, a lot of emotions were taking over my thought processes to the point where I couldn't even talk about it without crying.  Well,  I have been in a FUNK ever since it happened.  I have been trying to get back in the swing of things.  There are tons of photos and stories to share and I don't have the energy to put it up.  What is really going on?  I have NO idea.  I am hoping to get my blogging mojo back soon!

Question:  Have you ever been in a blogging funk? HOw did you get your blogging mojo back?

Flashback Friday! I love the kids!

    Family movie night is back!

Looking for family-friendly TV that really entertains? Then you and your family won't want to miss the fast-paced adventure "Secrets of the Mountain" on April 16, 8/7C, on NBC.

When it's time to have the 'talk'

The dinner table is the highlight of the day.
It's when we all get to sit down as a family and discuss how our day went and anything interesting that might be coming up in the following weeks.
Last night was so funny I had to share. DJ said he had to have a talk with one of his classmates!
She was inviting only the girls in the class to her house for a playdate and he told her that's unfair!
Say what? He's 5. What does he know about having talks with people?
He is so funny and has a very funny personality. I guess you had to have been there at the dinner table to get emotion and conversation.
    He was serious!
Haha! Alright DJ. Gotta love it.

Mommy Prayers Review and Giveaway-ends Monday, April 26

I am a mom three times over and still find myself in a bind saying a prayer or two to get me through a rough patch especially during the witching hour.

Mommy Prayers is for any mom who has sought divine guidance while searching for a lost binkie-a hilarious book of prayers for the motherhood journey.

    An excerpt from the book:

"O God, please don't let me be late. Please keep the light green for just one more second. Please fill the small, tight heart of the program director with mercy and pity so that she doesn't charge me the completely outrageous $1-per-minute late fee."

This might be a small book but, it is packed with a lot prayers that covers subjects like:
    The missing binkie
    The late preschool pickup
    The birthday party from hell...
    and other everyday absurdities

    Prayers for:
    *Crazy Days
    *Sleepless Nights
    *Meltdowns and stressful situations

Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer-Review and Giveaway

I am the first to admit this.  The bathrooms are my LEAST favorite part of housecleaning.  If there's an easier way to get the job done, you better believe I am all for it.

Thankfully I received an invitation to try the new Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer!

Between getting my son ready for school, seeing my husband off for work, taking care of my baby girl during the day and finding time for a shower, morning madness is a term most women know too well!

In fact, according to a new Scrubbing Bubbles survey, nine out of 10 moms are looking for solutions that would help them clean less often and 91 percent confess that keeping the bathroom clean is a never-ending task.

The new Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer is designed to work hard on many bathroom surfaces so busy moms don’t have to. The power sprayer creates a barrier working to keep bathroom surfaces clean for up to four days.

    This product works great on:
    • Tile, Tubs & Showers
    • Sinks
    • Shower Doors
    • Faucets and Fixtures
    • Bathroom Countertops

    From the website:
The benefits of Scrubbing Bubbles® Extend-A-Clean™ Power Sprayer:
    • Active cleaners work overtime to keep your bathroom cleaner, longer
    • Invisible grime barrier is activated each time bathroom surfaces get wet, working for up to 4 days
    • Power Sprayer provides better coverage for easier cleaning
    • Makes bathroom cleaning simpler, easier and more manageable

My first suggestion is to ventilate the room and read the label thoroughly BEFORE using this product. The Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer packs a serious punch!

We have white tubs and as you can imagine, dirt and scum build up can become a problem if not dealt with on a daily basis in our bathrooms.  I was very pleased with the outcome of my bathroom shower and tubs once I used this product.  As I mentioned before, please be very careful when using this product and read the labels and following the directions on usage.

If you would like to win this “Minimize Morning Madness” gift basket which includes:

    Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-A-Clean Power Sprayer
