Taking care of business. Boys to Men...

My son wears these shoes to church. To preserve their life, I loosen the shoestring, take a slighty damp cloth and wipe down his shoes and then insert fabric softener sheets in them.

This past weekend, I showed him how to do it and you know he kept asking what the purpose was.  Why can't he just go outside and play.  This is too much work.

We had to explain to him that he's becoming a big boy now and taking care of his things is a good step.  I hope it wasn't in one ear and out of the next.  I am just crossing my fingers that these little steps will stick with him.

It's very important to teach our young men some basic and fundamental life lessons.

One day they will leave home to go away to college, and or become husbands and fathers.  We have to do our part to assure that they are equipped with the basics.

Question:  What are some basic and fundamental lessons you are teaching your children?

My daughter is learning to wash dishes by hand. Our dishwasher went out & we're enjoying this life lesson.

That's right! Teach him young! You know raggedy shoes on a man will ruin a first impression. *lol*

I remind my son daily to please put the toilet seat down, and if your aim is off, clean up your mess, don't leave it for me. He also does dishes and helps me vacuum.
