I go straight to Southwest, baby! We fly Continental a lot since they do the routes we tend to fly. For everything else it's almost always Southwest.

I fly alot between NY and Myrtle Beach, SC so I fly Spirit Airlines...a lot. I would only recommend Spirit if you are looking to fly cheap and quick. It is completely no frills. It's like taking the bus, seriously. But I get dirt cheap flights all the time -- i.e. 3 people round trip for about 300 bucks...even less if I catch a sale and get a coupon. But when I say no frills...I mean no frills.

If you do fly Spirit, sign up for the email alerts and always book through their website, not the travel sites. Their direct prices are always cheaper.

I fly "no frills" too! Never had a problem with them either. I have their credit card, so I get their $0 Fare Club. I have gone from Ft Lauderdale-Vegas for.. get this...about $60 RT for both my husband & I. TOTAL! Even lower than that to NYC. Fortunately, they offer quite a few destinations flying out of Ft. Lauderdale.

I blogged about this here and here

I too love Southwest. We're usually flying from MS to CA. Southwest has full size planes - I hated trying to maneuver strollers, bags, etc. onto commuter sized planes when my girl was a baby. They're usually on time, and generally very friendly.

I always price check using Orbitz, but usually end up right back at Southwest.
