I've written in previous posts about the rough time DJ's having with adjusting to being a big brother. There are some siblings that embrace the role with patience, love and excitement. Then, there are some siblings that take awhile to get adjusted to the role. My son has taken the latter route.
I am so proud of him. He's showing major improvement with the way he's been treating his baby sister. I've incorporated 'sibling playtime' together where he takes the lead on spending time with her.
We pulled out the pop up tent and set it up in the living room, and let them 'play' together. Today, he wanted to read his favorite book.
The ABC Bible Verse Book.
I love this photo. Gracen was captivated by her big brother's voice.
I took a peek in to see what was going on and couldn't resist snapping a few photos.
He said, I love you Sissy and gave her the biggest kiss. I gave him the biggest praise and told him how proud I am of the way he's been treating his baby sister lately.

I know that we're on the right road. It took some bumps in the road, I'm sure there will be more bumps ahead. I've taken a more active role in making sure to incorporate DJ in the interaction with his baby sister. I can't wait to see how their relationship blooms over the years. We are so blessed to have our children. We never take these blessings for granted. Thank you GOD for giving us Danyelle, Darrin and Gracen. They are truly a dream come true.
Question: Do you have any tips on how you successfully incorporated sibling interactions?

No tips but I have to say how very cute they are together.
Thanks for letting your kids read that book. :)
Deedra ;)
LOVE that book and what a sweetie to read it to his sister!
I like the interaction. She's going to become his shadow. DJ...and here comes Gracen! :)
I'm glad he is adjusting. I can't imagine how these kids deal with these sorts of things. Lord knows we as adults have our own adjusting to do so I am sure he is doing just great! Wait until they start ganging up against you hehehehe then it will be another story! Hope you've been well :-}
No tips, but that sibling playtime is too cute!
These pictures are sooo sweet. It looks like she is really listening. Great idea of the sibling playtime.
I think with Dakota I had to stroke his ego a bit. I constantly told him she would look up to him, and she needed him and she could do nothing for herself. There is a big age difference with my two, and I somehow think it wouldn't be this easy if they were closer in age.
The problem now is he seems to have claimed ownership "my Jayla." He won't let other people around her. This is a bit of a problem and is sometimes irritating.
