I had a very interesting conversation with a friend this weekend regarding inappropriate questions during conversations and interactions with people.
She told me of the random and rude questions she's been receiving regarding some personal things in her life. I of course sat there with my mouth in the O position for most of the discussion. I had to chime in with the latest. My neighbor asked if I was going to have more kids. I told her after she has more kids to let me know.
I mean really------What made her think it was OK to ask me that?
Oh and my all time favorite, I was at a park playdate and one of the moms says, I was SURPRISED when I heard you were having a baby. I thought you were done.
My response was, how did you THINK anything about what I'm done about? When have you ever heard me talk about my personal business on that level like that?
My friend and I fell out laughing because she and I are cut from the same cloth. She said, I don't blame you. Nosy people annoy me! I can't stand when people ask a million questions. I have to tell them, "WHY YOU ALL UP IN MY GRILL?"
You have to be old school to know that phrase! LOL
She brought up this very interesting point. Which brings me to the following.....If you don't ask questions, how will you get to know anything about a person?
When getting to know someone,
What do you consider APPROPRIATE questions?
What do you consider INAPPROPRIATE questions?

come stop by sometime.. ;-p
Honestly, you have me not wanting to ask you any questions--out of fear that you will think it's rude of me. lol. I guess I don't get bothered by other people's questions. :) I think people generally mean well when they ask questions...
@YanTan-great blog. i will be checking you out from time to time. i love to see natural hairstyles. i'm just too chicken to do it. LOL
@Mrs. D-now you know good and well you get bothered by inappropriate questions/privacy. That's why you have a private blog. Keep it real. LOL
I do not like inappropriate questions about my kids' adoption, or their biological parents and why they chose adoption. I think for me, that's about it. I'm pretty sensitive about that.
We had similar issues this past week with those kinds of questions.
old school phrases i love it and personally i feel that if a person wants to get to know you there is a limit to the who, where, when and how. you should never get to personal unless you know that person like that.
heres another old school phrase tripping i always say you got me tripping or you got me all messed up lmao
Which is why I wait for you to blog about anything that I want to ask you ;-)
I bet I've made comments or asked questioned that annoyed some mother.
I think the obvious about getting to know someone requires questions and open conversation. However, there's nothing wrong with being choosy or using caution.
Let peace be your umpire in all situations.
Folks ask me all kinds of sh*t, including "all they all your children?" I don't too much get made - I can feel where folks coming from. Especially when folks say how BEAUTIFUL my girls are or what a lovely family.
It's when folks DON'T say anything but look at me and my children "funny" is when I get offended. (sounds crazy huh) LOL
