Remember THIS?
Check him out now:
I really think it's the plates! We saw these plates at the checkout stand end caps (HATE THOSE SHELVES) by the way and he PLEADED to get these plates. They were 15 in a pack for $2.00. FINE! I'm sure this is a rip off but, I wasn't in the mood to be fighting over it.
When we got home he immediately starts asking to EAT. Then he goes to his cabinet. Yes, it's HIS cabinet with HIS snacks. HaHa!
He grabs the goldfish and raisin box and we start to fill the 'ears' on the plate.
Then he asks for apple slices. Of course I messed it up because I left the skin on the apples. He starts WHINING that Daddy NEVER leaves the skin on the apples. WHAT????????????? Look here little boy the skin on the apples are GOOD FOR YOU! It's not that serious, eat the apples! He proceeds to have a fit. OVER APPLES? Are you kidding me?
**Wait a minute, why am I having this debate with the boy? He's ASKING to eat. Let's get through this hurdle. So, I manage to get all the skin off the apple slices** Whew, an unnecessary battle de-foiled!
Then he wanted cream cheese and peanut butter. By this time I am seriously getting a bit nauseous. All these food combinations are throwing me off but, hey, he's requesting it, so FINE!
The boy ATE EVERY thing on the plate. Then he asked for a glass of milk. I was in SHOCK!
I was so nervous. Was my child HUNGRY all day? Was I starving him and unaware of it?
NOPE. All the advice in the world was right, your child will tell you when they're HUNGRY so be ready to feed them.
This is quite interesting to me. Why can't he just eat on a regular schedule and take naps too? Ok, I'm pushing it with the naps part huh?
Well, you can't fault me for trying!
Hah.
So, tell me, do you have a picky eater?
If not, What are some snacks your kids are ALWAYS asking for? What kind of snacks do you feed your preschooler?

You know what's funny? I actually blogged about this some time last year. Christopher is a very picky eater but he saw the Zoo Pals commercial on TV and wanted the plates, bowls and plastic ware. I was so desperate I got them all for him and he ate things that he wasn't accustomed to eating but it didn't stay that way.
He's back to being Mr. Picky. You know what I pack for his lunch everyday he goes to school? Pasta. He loves pasta. So I get creative and get all kinds. Fancy heart shaped ones, ones that actually look like conch shells, tomato and basil linguine, you name it. I wonder what his teachers think!
For some odd reason my kids eat better on little sectioned off trays. I bought some from the Target and a couple of other places and found that they'll go from little section to section and will at least try everything. ETot's eating habits depend on how much he's done during the day, he's definitely less of a picky eater than is brother but he won't eat much of anything one meal and then scarf down the next one entirely. They are both fruit fanatics though so we do tons of fruit for snacks, baggies of dry cereal, crackers, and lately they'll even do veggie sticks if I give them something to dip them in.
As long as they are doing ok on the weight scale I try not to worry about their eating, I figure in a few years we will be complaining about how they are eating us out of house and home so I'm sure they'll make up for it eventually.
I had the opposite problem. My kid was an eating machine. LOL. My grandma, who babysat her, called her Max. As in Max, who eats alot, from Living Single.
The girl would come to her house from school and want something to eat. Going through her cupboards and frigs asking can she have this and that. LOL.
If a plate motivates him to eat, hey got with it.
That's funny, but whatever works. My kids aren't really that picky they're just bossy! I don't cater to my kids (well, not too much. LOL) Good luck with the continuing eating and drinking milk. Don't push too hard on the naps... LOL... Don't wanna push your luck.
I wouldn't have taken the skin off LOL but you obviously have much more patience then I do. Mica eats all fruits, veggies, and string cheese during the day. She gets protein in her morning milk so don't call CPS on me. She loves a mix with cherry tomatoes, grapes, clementines (already peeled and separated lol), apple slices, broccoli, and a big dollop of ranch to dip. Leftover edamame is a big fave too. She just never has a choice, she can eat it or starve LOL.
Yeah, Seamus doesn't eat either. Drives me NUTS. My MIL is all "maybe we should give him a pediasure or two every day? And I'm all "Do you know how much those things COST!?" lol
He's not anorexic, he gets vitamins (in fun Gummi form so he WILL eat them), drinks lots of milk, loves cheese and apples and peanut butter (on a spoon usually). So I just figure "eh." I was the SAME way as a baby and kid and I turned out fine. :D Except now I'm a big fat slob that eats every 3 hours - even NOT pregnant. Haha!
