YOU give someone a gift.
They mail you a thank you card.
Are YOU supposed to thank them for the thank you card?
Yes or No
Please, explain.
After 5 comments. I'll be back.
-------------------------------
Ok, I'm back.
I sent someone a gift. They mailed me a thank you card. I thought that was the end.
Isn't that the end?
When I saw them, they asked if I received their thank you card.
I said yes.
They said, they were wondering if I ever got the thank you card and it would have been nice to let them know.
Let them know what? Let them know how? Call them, send them another thank you card for the thank you card that they sent me thanking me for the gift?
I REALLY HATE PEOPLE SOMETIMES.

I figure you just let them know you got the card. *shrugging*
Thats a question I have often wondered about I think maybe after the thank you card you are done?
I'd say you are not required to thank them for a thank you card. No need to make a special call about it. Just happen to mention you received it the next time you run into them....maybe.
I don't think so. Cuz if you send them a thank you for a thank you, do they have to send you a thank you for your thank you? Seems like an endless cycle.
It's all over after the thank you card.
I just pulled out my Emily Post's guide to Etiquette (it comes in sooooo handy sometimes) and it says that you absolutely don't HAVE to acknowledge a thank you card sent to you. If you want to say something the next time you see them or dash off an email, fine, but certainly not expected.
some people are so fussy.
I've read this post 8 times now, and each and every time I end up on the floor laughing.
"I thought that was the end....isn't that the end?!"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thank you-- you made me laugh so hard I sprouted a six-pack.
PS: Does this mean you send me a thank you card?
"...it would have been nice to let them know."
They're kidding right?!
I reposted this because Yati can't stop laughing over it. LOL
very odd. I would think that it is all over once they sent you the thank you card for the gift. Now I am confused!
Too funny! I love the "emotion" that came through on this post.
In my humble opinion, there's no need to "respond" to thank you cards. That could go on for-evah (thank you for saying thank you - no, thank YOU...).
